
The Algerian community abroad began casting their votes on Monday for the upcoming early presidential elections scheduled for September 7, 2024.
According to figures from the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE), the electorate among the Algerian community abroad consists of 865,490 voters (45% women and 55% men), with 15.43% of them under the age of 40.
The ANIE oversees this electorate abroad through 117 commissions, distributed as follows: 18 in France, 30 in other European countries, 22 in Arab countries, 21 in African countries, and 26 in Asia and the Americas.
Article 132 of the organic law related to the electoral system stipulates that “the president of the ANIE, in collaboration with diplomatic and consular representations abroad, as well as the relevant delegations, may, by decision, advance the start of voting by one hundred and twenty hours.”
