Algeria–Russia: Talks in Algiers Focus on Expanding Infrastructure, Transport Cooperation

Bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Russia in the infrastructure sector was at the heart of talks held on Wednesday, between the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and the Minister of the Government of Moscow and head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, Sergey Cheremin, and his accompanying delegation, according to a press release from the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure.

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of Russian Ambassador to Algeria Alexei Solmatin, focused on “ways to bolster bilateral cooperation in the infrastructure sector, with particular emphasis on railways and guided transport.” In this respect, both sides praised the level of expertise of the two countries in the field of developing and constructing infrastructure, affirming the importance of elevating joint cooperation through intensifying the exchange of expertise and the transfer of knowledge, and benefiting from pioneering experiences in the implementation of railway and metro projects, particularly at the level of major cities.

The two parties also highlighted the need to expand the horizons of bilateral partnership, particularly in the field of smart management systems for infrastructure.

They also agreed to continue strengthening this cooperation so as to serve common interests and support the development momentum in both countries, said the press release.
