Turkey / Syria : The prospects of resuming ties after years of stalemate

ANKARA – Turkey and Syria could meet at a ministerial level as part of efforts to normalise ties under a number of conditions, Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler told Reuters in an interview.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted a month ago his potential invitation to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to discuss the prospects of normalisation, as relations were cut for over a decade.

The meeting therefore, is contingent on responding to the demands of each side, including border disputes.
