Sergey Lavrov Criticizes West’s Influence and Stance on Middle East and Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the attempts by Western powers to “Ukrainize” the agenda of the G20, calling these efforts a failure. He argued that Western countries continue to treat Global South nations with a colonial mindset while pushing green energy agendas without offering the meaningful support necessary for their success. Lavrov highlighted the contradiction of promoting green energy without addressing the systemic challenges faced by these countries, noting that the West’s approach lacked genuine commitment.

Lavrov also pointed out the reluctance of colonial powers to relinquish their control over international institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In contrast, he praised the BRICS nations for their more equitable and realistic approach to global affairs, positioning them as a fair alternative to Western-dominated organizations.

On the Middle East conflict, Lavrov attributed the escalating crisis to Israel’s aggressive policies and Washington’s attempt to monopolize the mediation process. He affirmed that Russia was prepared for “any development” in the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing that the resolution of the crisis would only be achieved once the goals of Russia’s Special Military Operation (SMO) had been fulfilled.
