Palestinian authority sounds alarm over Zionist bill targeting UNRWA

GAZA – The Palestinian authority warned on Monday about the dangers posed by the Zionist initiative to prohibit the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stating that this legislation represents a “violation of international law and a provocation to the global community.”
The presidency underscored that “UNRWA is a red line,” emphasising that the refugee issue is central to the Palestinian question and that a just resolution to this issue is essential in line with international resolutions and law. They also noted that UNRWA was established under a UN resolution on December 18, 1949.
The Zionist parliament is scheduled to vote on two bills that threaten UNRWA’s future. The first bill seeks to prohibit UNRWA from operating in occupied Jerusalem, while the second aims to withdraw the privileges and immunities granted to the agency’s employees.
