China will work harder to expand domestic demand and consumption, further deepen reform comprehensively, steadfastly expand opening-up, and aim for the sustained growth of the Chinese economy, Premier Li Qiang said.
Li made the remarks on Sunday and Monday during meetings with key international leaders attending the “1+10” Dialogue in Beijing, including Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank; Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO); and Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Amidst a shifting and unstable global economic landscape, Premier Li emphasized that strengthening opening-up, international cooperation, and mutual benefit are essential to achieving an early recovery and steady economic growth worldwide. “This year, the Chinese economy has enjoyed generally stable growth, and recently we have unveiled a package of incremental policies. Market confidence and expectations have been significantly enhanced,” he stated.
Li also underscored China’s support for the New Development Bank’s expansion and its commitment to enhancing cooperation with the World Bank, WTO, and IMF to improve global financial stability, combat climate change, and promote economic and social development in developing nations. Leaders of these international financial institutions praised China’s efforts to strengthen multilateralism, improve its business environment, and support international economic growth, highlighting its significant role in fostering stability and cooperation worldwide.
