CANEX 2024: Algerian Minister of Trade Engages with BADEA’s Director

The Algerian Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, held discussions with Sidi Ould Tah, the General Director of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), to explore ways to enhance cooperation between Algeria and this financial institution, according to a ministry statement released on Thursday.
The meeting occurred during the opening of the 2024 African Creative Days “CANEX WKND 2024” in Algiers. It focused on strategies to strengthen collaboration between Algeria and BADEA, particularly in financing projects aimed at boosting trade and exports to African markets.
Both parties underscored the importance of supporting initiatives that finance strategic projects related to food security, with the goal of enhancing productive capacities and ensuring their sustainability.
In this context, Zitouni emphasized that investment in food security “extends beyond fulfilling local needs; it also plays a crucial role in fostering economic growth and increasing trade volumes with African nations.”
Additionally, the minister highlighted the importance of collaboration with BADEA “to develop an integrated economic system that serves our mutual interests,” noting that such economic partnerships contribute to sustainable growth while expanding investment opportunities across the continent, the document concluded.
