ALGIERS — The Algerian Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Brahim Boughali, affirmed Tuesday that Algeria, under the leadership of the President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is sovereign in its decisions and free to choose the economic model adapted to its characteristics and to its people’s aspirations.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the presentation of an electronic application for transmitting oral and written questions between the lower house and the Government, Boughali addressed the campaigns targeting Algeria, such as the European Parliament resolution, stating: “Such campaigns, especially from France’s far-right, are nothing new to us.”
He continued: “We maintain full sovereignty over our affairs and reserve the right to determine our economic model, based on win-win principles and equal footing with all those who wish to engage with Algeria in the future.”
He said, in this regard, that “the model they want to impose on us is not the most suitable one, but there exists a far better model, especially since many economic operators wish to invest in Algeria.
