Algeria’s FM Attaf Receives Polish Counterpart

ALGIERS, April 29, 2026 – Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received on Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, who is on an official visit to Algeria, according to a ministry statement.

The two ministers held one-on-one talks followed by an expanded working session with members of both delegations.

The meeting provided an opportunity to conduct “a comprehensive assessment of bilateral relations in light of the progress made in implementing the cooperation activities agreed upon during the official visit paid by Minister Ahmed Attaf to the Republic of Poland in June 2024,” the statement said.

In this context, “the need to strengthen the partnership between the two countries and elevate it to the highest possible levels was emphasized, notably through the swift activation of the joint intergovernmental commission tasked with exploring ways to deepen existing cooperation in several fields such as hydrocarbons, mining, renewable energy, agriculture, tourism and digitalization, as well as identifying further opportunities offered by the potential of both countries,” the same source added.

The two ministers also “exchanged views and analyses on a number of current international and regional issues, including the situation in the Middle East, the war in Ukraine, as well as developments in the Sahel region,” according to the statement.

At the end of the talks, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations and the Polish Diplomatic Academy, the statement concluded.
