Algeria’s Arkab Discusses Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation with South Korean Vice Fm

Algiers, April 14, 2026 – the Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab received on Tuesday Park Yoonjoo, South Korea’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of economic affairs and special envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, with whom he discussed ways and means of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, according to a ministry statement.
During the meeting, held in the presence of a delegation from the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several officials from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, both sides reviewed prospects for developing Algerian–South Korean cooperation, particularly in the hydrocarbons and oil and gas industries, examining ongoing projects and future partnership opportunities.
The discussions also covered investment and partnership opportunities, especially with Sonatrach, across the full value chain from exploration and production to processing and transformation, as well as strengthening trade exchanges, notably in crude oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and naphtha exports, in addition to cooperation in seawater desalination, the statement added.
Both parties emphasized the importance of developing mutually beneficial partnerships based on know-how and expertise transfer, training, strengthening local integration in energy projects, and encouraging projects contributing to sustainable development and technological transfer.
For his part, the South Korean Vice Minister stressed that the visit “reflects the shared will to consolidate relations between the two countries and broaden cooperation prospects in strategic sectors, serving common interests and strengthening the bilateral partnership.”
