Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday officially inaugurated the “Fouka 2” seawater desalination plant in the Tipaza province (wilaya).
President Tebboune was briefed on the plant, which has a production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day.
This project is part of a broader national initiative led by the President to establish five major desalination plants across the country. These plants are located in the provinces (wilayas) of El Tarf (Koudiet Draouch), Bejaïa (Tighremt-Toudja), Boumerdes (Cap Djinet), Tipaza (Fouka) and Oran (Cap Blanc), with each plant having the same daily production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters.
The goal of these projects is to bolster water security and ensure a steady supply of potable water to Algerian citizens, leveraging national expertise and advanced technologies.
On Thursday, President Tebboune inaugurated Algeria’s first seawater desalination plant in Cap Blanc, Oran, with a production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day.
