Algerian President: Full Alignment Between Algeria and Zimbabwe on Regional and International Issues

ALGIERS – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed on Saturday evening that Algeria and Zimbabwe are in full agreement on regional and international issues, particularly on the importance of promoting peaceful solutions to conflicts in Africa, respecting the sovereignty of nations, and rejecting foreign interference.
“We warmly renew our welcome to you and your accompanying delegation. We share a deep sense of pride and a legacy rooted in the African liberation struggle, which we have sought to use as a driving force to strengthen our historic relations,” President Tebboune said during a joint press statement with his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa, following their talks at the Presidency headquarters.
The Algerian president considered the visit by the Zimbabwean president to Algeria “a reflection of the shared political will to develop these relations, as manifested in the outcomes of the fourth session of the Algerian-Zimbabwean Joint Committee, through the signing of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding in vital sectors.”
The Algerian president added that these newly signed agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries are “a valuable step that strengthens bilateral cooperation and the legal frameworks that will enable us to build the partnership we jointly aspire to.”
“We agreed to establish a joint business council and to encourage economic operators to explore investment opportunities in both countries. I would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair, to be held this September in Algeria,” President Tebboune said.
The Algerian president affirmed that the talks he held with his Zimbabwean counterpart enabled both sides to “exchange views on regional and international issues, during which we recorded complete agreement in positions, especially regarding support for peaceful solutions to conflicts in Africa, the necessity of respecting state sovereignty, rejecting foreign interventions, and preferring African solutions to Africa’s problems.”
The Algerian president added that the meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives and ideas on the current situation in various regions, especially the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. “We renewed our condemnation and denunciation of the crimes being committed against the brotherly Palestinian people,” and “affirmed our support for their legitimate right to establish an independent state.”
During the meeting, it was also confirmed to support the just cause of the Sahrawi people, considering it a decolonization issue as the last colony in Africa. “We have renewed our support for the United Nations’ efforts to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination,” the Algerian president said.
On the other hand, the Algerian President, in his capacity as the African Union coordinator for combating terrorism and violent extremism, took this opportunity to affirm Algeria’s commitment to supporting the African Union’s efforts to establish peace and security, particularly in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, and illegal migration.
