Algerian PM Chairs Meeting on Algeria–Niger Relations

ALGIERS, Feb 19, 2026 – In implementation of the instructions of the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, regarding the follow-up on the outcomes of the recent visit to Algeria by the President of the Republic of Niger, Head of State, General Abdourahmane Tiani, the Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, chaired on Thursday an interministerial meeting devoted to examining the current state and future prospects of Algerian-Nigerien relations, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
“In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, concerning the follow-up to the implementation of the outcomes of the visit carried out in Algeria on February 15 and 16, 2026, by General Abdourahmane Tiani, President of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb chaired, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, an interministerial meeting dedicated to reviewing the status and prospects of Algerian-Nigerien relations, particularly in the fields of energy, infrastructure, industry, health, trade, and training, as well as the mechanisms for implementing the various bilateral projects and cooperation and solidarity activities agreed upon by the two sides during this presidential visit,” the same source specified.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs; the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines; the Minister of Finance; the Minister of Health; the Minister of Industry; the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies; the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion; the Minister of Post and Telecommunications; the Minister of Vocational Training and Education; the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure; the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense; and the Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the statement added.
