The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments in light of the ceasefire agreement, expressing their hope that ongoing negotiations would lead to “a final settlement of the various points of disagreement,” and stressing “the need for the international community not to overlook the tragic situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza, the West Bank and Al-Quds.”
In addition, Attaf held talks with the Senior Advisor to the President of the United States for Africa, Arab and Middle Eastern affairs, Massad Boulos. The meeting allowed for “a review of the positive momentum characterizing Algerian-American relations,” both in terms of the “distinguished level of strategic dialogue” and the “promising prospects offered by the various pillars of economic partnership between the two countries.”
The two sides also exchanged views on key issues in the Arab world and the African continent, particularly developments in Libya and Sudan, as well as the Western Sahara issue, the statement concluded.
In addition, Attaf held talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the brotherly Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
