ALGER, April 28, 2026 – The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, who is on an official visit to Algeria, according to a ministry statement.

On this occasion, Attaf held a one-on-one meeting with Christopher Landau, followed by expanded talks involving members of both delegations.

The discussions made it possible to “review the notable momentum characterizing Algerian-American relations across their various dimensions” and to “examine ways to further boost them through strengthening strategic dialogue and consolidating partnership in priority areas of cooperation such as energy, investment, innovation, trade, agriculture, air transport, and higher education.”

The two sides also addressed “a number of regional and international issues of common interest, foremost among them developments in the Sahel-Saharan region, as well as the evolution of the political process for resolving the Western Sahara issue,” the statement concluded.
