ALGER, April 28, 2026 – The Electricity and Gas Regulation Commission (CREG) and the International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR) signed Tuesday in Algiers an agreement on a partnership program for the decarbonization of the industrial sector in Algeria, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, along with senior officials from several ministerial sectors and representatives of national and foreign partners, the statement added.

The agreement provided an opportunity to exchange expertise on industrial decarbonization as one of the main challenges of sustainable development, and to examine cooperation between Algeria and the Kingdom of Sweden in supporting energy transition efforts and promoting a more sustainable and competitive national industry, the statement noted.

The meeting also falls within Algeria’s commitment to continue strengthening international partnerships and integrating them into regional and global energy dynamics, the statement added.
