Algeria: Sonatrach begins first natural gas deliveries to Czech Republic

ALGIERS – The Sonatrach group has commenced the delivery of its first quantities of natural gas to the Czech Republic via the pipeline connecting Algeria to Italy, the company announced in a statement on Sunday.
“Sonatrach began, as of October 1, 2024, the delivery of the first quantities of natural gas to the Czech company CEZ as part of a recently concluded natural gas purchase and sale contract between the two companies,” the statement specified.
“This gas, intended for the supply of the Czech Republic, is being transported through the pipeline linking Algeria to Italy,” added the statement.
This delivery follows the completion of “fruitful negotiations that lasted two years” between the two parties and represents “the first milestone of cooperation between the two companies aimed at consolidating their long-term relationship,” Sonatrach emphasised.
This initial contract will allow Sonatrach to “capture a share of the Czech gas market and also strengthen its role as a reliable long-term supplier of natural gas to the European market,” the statement concluded.
