Algeria Condemns Israeli occupation authorities’ Recognition of Somaliland

Algeria on Saturday strongly condemned the move by the Israeli occupation authorities to recognize the Somaliland region.
“Algeria condemns in the strongest terms the move by the Israeli occupation authorities to recognize the Somaliland region, an illegal step that constitutes a serious infringement on the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and its unity and territorial integrity, in addition to posing a direct threat to peace, security, and stability in the region,” the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Algeria further emphasized that “this rejected and condemned measure constitutes a blatant violation of the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, as well as the founding principles of the African continental order,” foremost among them the principle prohibiting any infringement upon the national borders of states—a principle established by the Organization of African Unity and reaffirmed by the African Union as a fundamental pillar for safeguarding peace, security, and stability on the continent, the statement said.
In this regard, Algeria reiterated its full and unwavering support for the Federal Republic of Somalia in the face of this direct threat and the serious repercussions it entails for Somalia’s security and stability, as well as for the security and stability of the entire Horn of Africa region, the statement added.
