Algeria : Attempt to Introduce Over 11 Quintals of Cannabis From Morocco Foiled in Bechar

An attempt to introduce more than 11 quintals of cannabis across the border with Morocco was foiled on Tuesday during an operation conducted by combined detachments of the People’s National Army (PNA) within the Bechar military sector, the Algerian Ministry of National Defense announced Wednesday in a statement.
“As part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling barons and drug traffickers, and following an optimal exploitation of intelligence, combined PNA detachments within the Bechar military sector (3rd Military Region), thwarted, on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, an attempt to introduce 11 quintals and 10 kilograms of cannabis across the borders with Morocco,” said the source The Ministry of National Defense concluded that “this qualitative operation reaffirms the mobilization of PNA units to counter any attempt to undermine the security of citizens.”
