Algeria and WHO Discuss Strengthening Health Cooperation in Africa

ALGIERS- Algerian Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, received the Representative of the World Health Organization (OMS) in Algeria, Phanuel Hbaimana, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, said the ministry in a communiqué.

This meeting, held on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of officials from the central administration and the WHO office, provided an opportunity to discuss relations of cooperation between the two parties, the source said.

The minister emphasized “Algeria’s constant commitment to improving its health system within the framework of a strategic African vision that considers cooperation between Algeria and the countries of the continent as one of its major concerns.”

“The development and strengthening of this cooperation are of great interest as they ensure the progress of African countries and enhance exchanges between them,” said Saihi

Saihi further highlighted the commitment of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to “work towards modernizing the African continent.”

For his part, the WHO representative praised Algeria’s strategic position on the African continent, which will be further strengthened thanks to the “remarkable diplomatic success” it recently achieved through the efforts of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
