Algeria and US Explore Investment Cooperation at SelectUSA Summit

A delegation of heads of Algerian companies participating in the “SelectUSA” Investment Summit, held in National Harbor, Maryland (United States), met on Tuesday with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, according to a statement issued by the Algerian Council for Economic Renewal (CREA).
The discussions took place between the Algerian delegation, led by Kamel Moula, President of CREA, and the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, in the presence of Algeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Sabri Boukadoum, as well as the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Algeria, Marc Shapiro.
During the meeting, Landau expressed his satisfaction with the Algerian participation in the U.S. investment summit, given the importance of the delegation.
He also voiced his appreciation for the outcomes of his recent visit to Algeria, during which he was granted an audience by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, expressing his desire to further develop Algerian-American cooperation, according to the source.
For their part, the Algerian delegation highlighted the significant investment opportunities in Algeria, particularly in sectors with strong economic potential and high technological content that may interest American investors, such as energy, agriculture, the production of raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry, modern technologies, as well as mining, in light of the new legal framework governing the sector.
The delegation further expressed their wish to see American companies diversify their investments and participate in major structural projects currently underway in Algeria, the statement added.
On the third day of their visit to the United States, the Algerian delegation also met with the Governor of Oklahoma, Kevin Stitt, in the presence of several senior officials from that U.S. State.
Discussions between the two parties focused on Oklahoma’s economic strengths, Algeria’s investment climate and potential partnership opportunities that could be developed between Algerian companies and their counterparts from the State, according to the statement.
