Algeria and U.S. explore investment opportunities in public works sector

ALGIERS – The Algerian Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, received on Tuesday the President of the US-Algeria Business Council, Samy Boukaila, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of public works and infrastructure, as well as to explore investment opportunities between the two countries, according to a statement from the ministry.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in public works and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on exploring investment opportunities in this strategic sector, the source said.
The meeting also featured a productive exchange of views on enhancing joint cooperation, particularly in major infrastructure projects such as roads, ports, and railways, the source added.
On this occasion, the minister highlighted Algeria’s steady progress in developing its railway infrastructure through the expansion and modernisation of the rail network, as part of the national investment program for railways approved by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Moreover, he also underscored the opportunities and advantages that Algeria offers to foreign investors.
According to the statement, the President of the US-Algeria Business Council expressed the interest and readiness of American companies to invest in this sector, given the favourable investment climate in Algeria, which would open up significant opportunities for knowledge exchange and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
