Yoseikan Budo: Oran Hosts World Championship with 15 Countries Participating

The Algerian city of Oran is set to host the World Club and Nations Championship for Yoseikan Budo (both juniors and seniors) beginning next Saturday. Nearly 400 athletes of all genders from 15 countries will participate, as announced on Thursday by Ahmed Bouaraba, president of the Algerian Federation for the discipline.

The championship events will unfold over three days at the Miloud-Hadefi Sports Complex, according to the same source.

Algeria will be represented by the national team and various clubs affiliated with provincial leagues, with each club fielding two athletes, Bouaraba added.

The opening ceremony for this global event is scheduled for Saturday morning and will be attended by local authorities from Oran as well as Martin Kurth, president of the International Federation of Yoseikan Budo from Switzerland. Weigh-ins for the athletes and the competition draw are set for the day prior, as stated by the president of the Algerian Combat Sports Federation.

This event coincides with the 4th edition of the African Youth Forum, which will take place in Oran from November 1-4. This presents a unique opportunity for attendees to witness performances by the Budokas participating in the world championship while celebrating African youth, Bouaraba noted.
