Workers’ Union Congress in Dakhla Calls for Strengthened Support for Sahrawi Struggle

The proceedings of the 10th Congress of the Workers’ Union of Saguia El Hamra and Rio de Oro wrapped up on Monday night after three days of deliberations. The congress emphasized the need to consider the current circumstances surrounding the Sahrawi cause to decisively win the fateful battle.

In his closing speech, Amrabih Mami Dai, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and head of the Political Organisation Secretariat, thanked the authorities and the people of the Wilaya of Dakhla for ensuring the success of this labor milestone. He praised the positive spirit and constructive discussions that marked the conference sessions, highlighted by thorough committee presentations and studies, notably on the Basic Law and National Action Programs.

The final statement called on labor organizations worldwide to stand in solidarity with the Sahrawi people and support their legitimate struggle for freedom, self-determination, justice, and the rejection of oppression. A new leadership for the union was elected, with Nafei Ahmed Mohammed chosen as Secretary-General for a four-year term, alongside an Executive Bureau and Regional Bureaus.
