WHO: The “systematic dismantling” of Gaza’s health system is a “death sentence” for Palestinians

GAZA – The Zionist occupation forces set fire to Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, causing widespread destruction to most of its wards, following a major raid that has left the last remaining medical facility in the area severely damaged, the local health ministry reported on Friday.

“The occupation forces are inside the hospital now, and they are burning it,” ministry director Munir Al-Bursh said in a statement.

Bursh said the Zionist forces had ordered 350 people to leave Kamal Adwan for a nearby school sheltering displaced families, including 75 patients, their companions, and 185 medical staff. Additionally, the occupation forces have detained dozens of medical staff, including director Hussam Abu Safia, while the fate of many patients remains unknown after troops forcibly evacuated the medical facility.

It is noteworthy that much of the area around the northern towns of Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya has been cleared of people and systematically razed, confirming speculation that the Zionist occupation intends to keep the area as a closed buffer zone.

In the meantime, the occupation forces conducted several deadly attacks overnight and early this morning across the Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 37 civilians and the injury of 98 others in three massacres, according to medical sources.

Furthermore, the occupation besieged approximately 300 families in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun, with sources indicating that the town is enduring violent Zionist aggression, with systematic attacks on residential areas.

The UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) said the Zionist occupation’s “systematic dismantling” of Gaza’s health system is a “death sentence for tens of thousands of Palestinians.”

The UN’s special rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, has condemned the Zionist occupation’s forced displacement of staff and patients from Kamal Adwan Hospital, which was northern Gaza’s last medical facility.

“Israel is writing one of the darkest pages in the history of genocides, with “Made in the West” ink,” Albanese wrote on X, alongside a video showing a line of Palestinian men, stripped down to their underwear, walking with arms raised between the Zionist forces’ battle tanks.

Separately, the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) called for the “immediate flow” of humanitarian aid as babies freeze to death in Gaza.

“Meanwhile, blankets, mattresses, and other winter supplies have been stuck in the region for months waiting for approval to get into Gaza,” Philippe Lazzarini said in a post on X.

The Zionist occupation’s genocidal war on Gaza has resulted in at least 45,436 Palestinian martyrs, in addition to 108,038 wounded since October 7, 2023.
