UNRWA Warns Gaza Reconstruction Can No Longer Wait Amid Deepening Humanitarian Catastrophe

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated on Wednesday that hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in Gaza are living in overcrowded temporary shelters with nowhere else to go, stressing the urgent need to rebuild the territory amid the ongoing Zionist assault that has lasted over two years and caused extensive destruction, including to vital health infrastructure.

In a post on social media, UNRWA noted: “Despite the ceasefire, hundreds of thousands of displaced people are still living in overcrowded temporary shelters, with no other place to go.” It emphasized the urgent need for reconstruction in the devastated Gaza Strip, noting that thousands of people are still sheltering in UNRWA facilities.

The ceasefire in Gaza came into effect on October 10th of last year, following more than two years of continuous Zionist genocidal war.

However, Zionist forces continue to violate the agreement daily and are still preventing most humanitarian aid from entering the territory, including tents and shelter supplies, particularly UNRWA aid.
