UN committee warns of another “Nakba” amid occupation’s escalation in Gaza and the West Bank

A United Nations committee has warned of another “Nakba” similar to the displacement of Palestinians in 1948, as the Zionist occupation accelerates land seizures and issues evacuation orders amid an ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

The Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories said in a statement issued last night that “Israel continues to inflict unimaginable suffering on the people under its occupation, while accelerating the pace of land acquisition as part of its broader colonial ambitions.”

“What the world is witnessing could amount to a second Nakba, and it is clear that the goal of broader colonial expansion is the priority of the Government of Israel,” the committee said in a statement.

“Security operations are used as a cover for rapid land seizures, mass displacement, demolition, forced evictions, and ethnic cleansing, in order to replace Palestinian communities with Jewish colonists,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed on Saturday that the Zionist occupation’s complete blockade of aid into Gaza is “part of a genocide that has been ongoing for more than a year and a half.”

Accordingly, the Gaza government warned that more than 65,000 children are at immediate risk of famine due to the occupation’s two-month blockade of essential supplies to the Strip as part of its genocidal campaign on the Palestinian enclave.

“The Israeli occupation is engineering a famine that kills civilians and continues a systematic crime against 2.4 million people through closing crossings and blocking 39,000 aid trucks carrying food, fuel and medicine, in a flagrant violation of international law,” the Gaza Media Office said in a statement, adding that all bakeries have been non-operational for 40 days, depriving civilians of bread.

“Over 65,000 children now face starvation deaths from malnutrition as Israel weaponizes hunger against civilians,” the statement said.

Separately, media sources reported that US President Donald Trump has “had enough” of Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to align with Washington’s directives regarding the ongoing war in Gaza, as this could undermine his Nobel Peace Prize ambitions.
