Trump’s Map of Ukraine a ‘Strong Slap in Zelensky’s Face’ – Russian MFA Spokeswoman

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the map of Ukraine that was displayed at the White House during President Donald Trump’s meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders. Speaking to Sputnik, Zakharova said the map was intended “to bring them to their senses,” underscoring that the gesture was designed to confront Zelensky and his backers with the stark reality on the ground.

“This slap was probably meant to magically wake Zelensky up in some way. I think it will be very difficult for anyone to finally bring him to his senses,” Zakharova stated. According to her, the map served as a clear message to the Ukrainian president and those supporting him about the consequences of their current path.

The map, presented during the Oval Office talks, highlighted the regions of Ukraine currently under Russian control. Zakharova stressed that it demonstrated “just how much they’ve lost, in every sense,” pointing to the territorial, political, and strategic setbacks faced by Kyiv in the ongoing conflict.
