Sinopec expresses satisfaction with the strong relations between Algeria and China

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, received on Tuesday a high-level delegation from China’s Sinopec, led by the company’s Senior Vice President, Niu Shuanwen, according to a statement from the ministry.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the strategic ties between Algeria and China in the energy sector. In this regard, the two sides reviewed the current state of cooperation between Sonatrach and Sinopec, emphasising its strength and strategic significance. Discussions also covered business opportunities and investment prospects for Sinopec in Algeria, particularly in exploration, extraction, and hydrocarbon processing, the statement said.
Minister Arkab emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation between Sonatrach and Sinopec to encompass new areas in the oil and gas industries, noting that the Algeria-China relationship serves as a successful model for constructive and innovative partnerships.
The minister also pointed out that the new laws regulating Algeria’s hydrocarbons and investment sectors present significant opportunities for global companies, especially Sinopec, to enhance their presence and develop projects within the Algerian market.
In turn, Senior Vice President, Niu Shuanwen, expressed his satisfaction with the quality of relations between Algeria and China, reflected in the strong partnership between Sonatrach and Sinopec. Accordingly, he reaffirmed that Sinopec is looking forward to further enhancing cooperation with Sonatrach, especially with the promising opportunities within Algeria’s energy sector.
According to the statement, both sides reiterated their mutual commitment to strengthening and expanding energy cooperation, aiming to achieve shared benefits and contribute to Algeria’s efforts to develop its energy sector and bolster its international standing.
