Sahrawi People’s Right to Self-Determination is “Firm and Non-Negotiable”

SHAHEED AL-HAFED (Sahrawi refugee camps) — The Polisario Front’s representative to the United Nations and coordinator with the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Sidi Mohamed Omar, reaffirmed that the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence is “firm and non-negotiable.”
During a lecture organized by the Union of Students of Saguia el-Hamra and Rio de Oro at the Sahrawi refugee camps entitled “The Sahrawi Cause in International Diplomacy: Between Great Power Pressures and Settlement Prospects,” Sidi Omar said that the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, independence and legitimate resistance is “firm and non-negotiable.”
He noted that the Sahrawi people, after nearly five decades of resistance and perseverance, have achieved “significant accomplishments that have demonstrated to the world their ability to defeat enemy conspiracies.”
