Reactions to Upcoming Putin-Trump Meeting Reveal Global Divisions – Russian MFA Spokeswoman

MOSCOW – The world is clearly split between those who hope for a breakthrough at the upcoming August 15 meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Alaska, and those “hissing and scheming to derail progress,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik.

Zakharova described the diverse reactions to the anticipated sit-down as a “litmus test” that exposes where nations, politicians, and commentators truly stand. She said the sharpest critics are often those who feel excluded from the talks, resenting their lack of influence over the process.

Mocking such critics, Zakharova said they clamor for attention, shouting, “What about us? Bring us a chair, widen the table, open the windows – we’ll climb in, we’ll fly in, we’ll crawl in; you’ll see us, we’ll come down the rope if we have to.”
