President Tebboune Vows to Preserve State’s Social Character

The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed on Tuesday that Algeria will never give up on the social character of the State, in line with the 1 November 1954 Declaration.

In a speech he delivered before both Houses of Parliament at the Palace of Nations in Club des Pins, the President of the Republic said that “Algeria is a social state, and we will not go off this course.” He further emphasized that the 1 November 1954 declaration remains the foundation of the Algerian state, which “cannot and will not be replaced.”

In this regard, he recalled the sacrifices of the righteous martyrs who drafted this Declaration and took up arms to free the homeland and “build a social, democratic State grounded on our Islamic principles.” “We will not stop the social assistance directed to the ordinary citizens, it is their rights,” assured President Tebboune, recalling, in this regard, the various decisions that have been taken and programs that have been accomplished, which include the housing, education, health and other sectors.

“There is no country in the world that has a social policy like Algeria,” concluded President Tebboune.
