President Tebboune : Ports Crucial for National Economy, Sovereignty

ALGIERS – During a Council of Ministers meeting chaired on Sunday, the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized the importance of ports for the national economy and sovereignty.

The President instructed the Government to adopt new control measures to protect these vital infrastructures, enabling them to play their key role in boosting the economy.

President Tebboune called for a comprehensive and integrated vision regarding the domestic consumption of gas and oil products, based on a scientifically elaborated approach to preserve citizens’ purchasing power, increase energy investments, and combat waste.

The President directed the Minister of Industry to restore the cement plant to operation by late March, following its recovery as part of anti-corruption efforts.

He also ordered the completion of all necessary steps for the commissioning of the Kotama oilseed crushing plant in the province of Jijel by late March.
