Palestinian Health Ministry Calls for Immediate Release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safia
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has urgently called for the immediate release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safia and all detained medical staff held in Zionist prisons, urging international health and human rights organizations to intervene.
In a statement, the ministry condemned the mistreatment of Dr. Abu Safia, who, according to the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, has suffered severe abuse, including electric shocks, beatings, and medical neglect, leading to significant weight loss and heart complications. The ministry stressed that his detention, along with other healthcare workers, is a grave violation of international law and called for global action to secure their release.
Dr. Abu Safia, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, was arrested on December 27, 2024, alongside other medical personnel and civilians. The ministry denounced Zionist repeated attacks on medical staff and warned of the dire conditions faced by detainees in Zionist prisons.
