Lebanon’s Economic Losses Exceed $5 Billion, Prime Minister Says

Lebanon has suffered significant economic damage from the ongoing Zionist aggression, with losses surpassing $5 billion, according to Acting Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Speaking at the Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh on Monday, Mikati detailed that the World Bank’s latest estimates put the total damage at $8.5 billion. This includes $3.4 billion in losses from the destruction of 100,000 homes, as well as $5.1 billion in economic losses across sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and the environment.

Mikati emphasized that no country, especially Lebanon, can bear the weight of such immense destruction on its own, particularly as the nation grapples with a severe economic and financial crisis that has lasted for five years. He urged the international community and sponsoring countries to provide continued humanitarian, food, and medical aid, and to support Lebanon’s state institutions, including its constitutional, sovereign, and financial bodies.
