Iranian FM: US government has ‘no authority’ over Iran’s foreign policy

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that the United States has “no business” dictating Iran’s foreign policy, following the U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning regarding Yemen’s Houthi group, according to IRNA news agency.
“The United States Government has no authority, or business, dictating Iranian foreign policy,” Araqchi said in a post on X.
“End support for Israel’s genocide and terrorism. Stop killing the people of Yemen,” he added in response to Trump’s statements.
U.S. President Donald Trump launched his biggest military operation in the Middle East since taking office in January against Yemen’s Houthis on Saturday, killing at least 31 people at the start of a campaign expected to continue for weeks.
In his phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged the United States to cease strikes against Yemen’s Houthis.
“In response to the American representative’s arguments, Sergei Lavrov stressed the need for an immediate cessation of the use of force and the importance for all sides to engage in political dialogue in order to find a solution that would prevent further bloodshed,” the ministry said.
