Iran and Pakistan Sign 12 Cooperation Deals, Move Closer to Free Trade Agreement

Iran and Pakistan signed on Sunday 12 cooperation documents covering a wide range of areas, including science and technology, transportation and transit, trade and economy, tourism, and agriculture, according to IRNA news agency.

The agreements were signed in Islamabad in a ceremony attended by the top officials of both countries, including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, following a joint high-level meeting between the two delegations, the source said.

The documents aim to lay the groundwork for enhanced bilateral cooperation and include judicial and legal affairs, industrial collaboration, cultural heritage, and regional synergy, the source added.

Moreover, a high-level business forum was also held in Islamabad, aimed at bolstering bilateral trade ties and finalizing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, welcomed the progress towards finalizing the FTA text, saying both countries are working on resolving tariff issues and enhancing border infrastructure to facilitate trade.
