Hamas Warns Zionist Offensive on Gaza Doomed to Fail: “The Occupation Will Not Be a Picnic”
The Palestinian movement Hamas declared Wednesday that the Zionist occupation’s planned offensive to seize Gaza City will meet the same fate as previous failed attempts. In a statement, the group warned, “The operation will fail just as its predecessors did. The occupation of Gaza will not be a picnic.” The remarks came shortly after Zionist official approved Operation Gideon’s Chariots 2, a large-scale plan to occupy Gaza City.
Hamas condemned the plan as a continuation of genocide in the Gaza Strip, ongoing for more than 22 months, and as proof of disregard for mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and prisoner exchange. The group stressed that it had already accepted a ceasefire proposal brokered by Egypt and Qatar, yet Netanyahu continues to reject negotiations, choosing instead to escalate the war with the aim of destroying Gaza City and displacing its residents to the south. Hamas accused Netanyahu of “undermining agreements, disregarding the lives of captives, and not being serious about bringing them back.”
The plan, recently approved by the Zionist Security Cabinet, calls for the displacement of around one million Palestinians before the city is besieged and fully occupied following intense bombardment. Hamas urged international mediators to exert maximum pressure on the Zionist entity to halt what it described as an ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, reiterating that the occupation’s insistence on escalation is the primary obstacle to peace and humanitarian relief.
