Global Condemnations Against Zionist Entity’s Ban on UNRWA Operations

The United Nations and countries worldwide have condemned the Zionist entity following its parliament’s recent approval of two laws banning the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from operating in occupied Palestine. This legislation, passed on Monday, threatens to halt UNRWA’s life-saving support for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Palestinian spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh characterized the overwhelming Zionist Knesset vote as indicative of Zionist shift towards a fascist state. Hamas labeled the legislation as part of the “Zionist war and aggression” against the Palestinian people, while the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) called it an escalation of genocide. International reactions included condemnation from Chinese UN envoy Fu Cong, who deemed the Zionist action “outrageous,” and Russian UN ambassador Vasily Nebenzia, who described the ban as “terrible.”
Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the ban as a blatant violation of international law, and a joint statement from four European nations—Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, and Spain—highlighted the serious implications for UN operations. Australian and Belgian foreign ministers also expressed strong opposition to the Knesset’s decision, emphasizing the vital services UNRWA provides in the region. The Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced concerns regarding the humanitarian and political ramifications of the new laws.
Top UN officials reiterated the critical role of UNRWA, which has supported Palestinian refugees since its establishment in 1949. If implemented, the ban by the Zionist parliament is expected to exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where over 43,000 people, primarily women and children, have lost their lives since the Gaza war began.
