Global Outcry After Zionist Interception of “Global Sumud” Flotilla

The interception by the Zionist entity of the humanitarian flotilla “Global Sumud” bound for Gaza has sparked international outcry, with governments and organizations denouncing the raid and demanding safe passage for the aid and passengers.

Turkey’s foreign ministry condemned what it called “an act of terrorism that gravely violates international law and endangers the lives of innocent civilians.” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused the Zionist entity of “banditry” and vowed to protect Turkish nationals on board.

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Zionist entity was “disregarding the basic rights of the Palestinian people but also trampling on the conscience of the global community,” promising to use “all lawful and legally grounded measures to hold Israel accountable.”

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that the interception in international waters off the coast of Gaza “reinforces Israel’s continued violation of international law and infliction of suffering, including starvation, on the Palestinian people.” Calling the incident “another grave offence by Israel of global solidarity and sentiment that is aimed at relieving suffering in Gaza and advancing peace in the region…”

The Palestinian foreign ministry denounced the raid as “an attack and aggression against the Global Sumud Flotilla,” saying the ships “have the right of free passage in international waters.” Hamas described the operation as “piracy and maritime terrorism against civilians.”

Iran and Pakistan also condemned the interception, with Islamabad calling it “a flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian principles” and part of “the persistent framework of aggression and the illegal blockade of Gaza.”

From Geneva, UN human rights office spokesperson Marta Hurtado Gomez stressed: “Any attack on the flotilla is unacceptable … people seeking to deliver humanitarian aid … should not be attacked; they must be protected.”

Organizers of the flotilla said live broadcasts and communications were cut off after the Zionist forces boarded the ship Métèque in international waters Thursday night.
