Gaza Hospitals Expected to Receive Medical Supplies, Food Aid Still Absent

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced on Saturday that a convoy of trucks carrying critical medicines and medical consumables is scheduled to enter the Gaza Strip with coordination from the World Health Organization (WHO).

In a statement, the ministry said the shipment only includes medical supplies and no food items.

“These supplies are of extreme importance and urgently required to continue life-saving treatment for patients and the injured,” it added.

In parallel, the Palestinian Government issued an urgent appeal to the international community and UN humanitarian agencies to exert greater pressure on the Zionist occupation to immediately open all border crossings into the Gaza Strip and allow the unhindered entry of thousands of life-saving aid trucks currently stranded near the besieged enclave, the Wafa news agency reported.

The appeal comes as food insecurity in Gaza has reached 100%, according to specialized UN agencies.

The death toll from starvation has reached 162, including 92 children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Speaking during a press briefing on his recent trip to the Middle East, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban said, “Children in Gaza are dying at an unprecedented rate, and the signs of profound suffering and hunger are evident on their faces.”

Chaiban stressed that what is happening on the ground in Gaza is “inhumane,” and that what children of all ages need is a sustainable ceasefire and a political path forward.
