Gaza death toll nears 50,300 as genocide continues

At least 26 Palestinians were martyred and 70 more injured in Zionist occupation’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
The attacks have killed at least 921 people and wounded 2,054 others in Gaza since the occupation broke the ceasefire with Hamas on March 18.
Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said on Friday that the “Israeli” actions in Gaza, including strikes on populated areas in which civilians have been killed, bear the hallmarks of atrocities.
“There is a callous disregard for human life and dignity. The acts of war that we see bear the hallmarks of atrocity crimes,” he said in Geneva.
“Every day we have seen children being killed, aid workers being killed, people being forcibly displaced with no means for their survival,” Laerke added.
Besides the relentless airstrikes, authorities in the Gaza Strip said the occupation has destroyed dozens of food kitchens and aid distribution centers in a continuation of its systematic starvation policy in the course of its genocidal war on the enclave.
The Gaza Media Office said the occupation forces have directly targeted 26 food-kitchens and 37 aid distribution centers across the Strip since October 2023.
“These food-kitchens were providing meals to displaced and starving civilians,” said a statement, adding that the attacks reaffirm “to the world that it deliberately pursues a systematic starvation policy as a tool of war and genocide against over 2.4 million Palestinians trapped under siege in Gaza.”
Moreover, the U.N. Human Rights office said “Israel” is violating international law by forcibly displacing Palestinians in Gaza under mandatory evacuation orders.
The occupation forces have issued what the U.N. describes as 10 mandatory evacuation orders, covering large areas across Gaza, since it resumed its war on the besieged enclave on March 18, breaking a two-month-old ceasefire amid rows over terms for extending it.
“These evacuations fail to comply with the requirements of international humanitarian law,” U.N. human rights spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan said in a statement on Friday.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 50,277 Palestinians were martyred and 114,095 wounded in the Zionist occupation’s genocidal war on Gaza. Gaza’s Government Media Office also updated its death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of Palestinians missing under the rubble are presumed dead.
