Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received on Monday the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, On the sidelines of the 12th edition of the High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa.
During these talks, updates on the political and security situation in the African continent were reviewed, with emphasis on the additional challenges posed by the complexities of the current international context, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
In particular, the two sides exchanged views on developments in the Sahel region as well as those concerning the issue of Western Sahara, and on the role entrusted to the African Union in this regard, the statement said.
