Algeria’s Army General Received by South Korea’s Minister of Defense

The Algerian Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), Army General Saïd Chanegriha, was received on Thursday — the fifth and final day of his visit to the Republic of Korea — by the South Korean Minister of Defense, Ahn Gyu-back, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
The meeting, attended by senior South Korean military officials and members of the Algerian military delegation, focused on assessing the state of bilateral military cooperation between Algeria and South Korea, as well as exploring ways to further develop it toward a strategic partnership between the two friendly nations, the statement noted.
During the meeting, General Chanegriha conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, expressing hope that this visit would serve as “a new milestone in strengthening cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.”
“First of all, I would like to express my sincere thanks and deep gratitude for your kind invitation to attend the ADEX-2025 International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition. I hope this visit will add another brick to the edifice of cooperation between our two countries and help realize the aspirations of our two military institutions,”
said General Chanegriha.
“I take this opportunity to convey the greetings of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, who attaches special importance to strengthening relations with the Republic of Korea,” he added.
The Algerian Chief of Staff expressed his wish to elevate bilateral military cooperation between the two countries’ armies to the highest levels, welcoming the commitment of both nations’ leaders to grant this partnership the importance it deserves.
“Indeed, Algerian–Korean relations have gradually evolved since the establishment of diplomatic ties between our two nations,” General Chanegriha continued, “and in recent years have witnessed renewed dynamism marked by high-level exchanges and the signing of several agreements in various sectors.”
For his part, Minister Ahn Gyu-back expressed his country’s readiness to develop bilateral cooperation with Algeria, particularly in the defense sector, and voiced hope that the Algerian delegation would benefit from the exhibition’s activities and discover the advanced technological and technical capabilities of South Korean companies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides exchanged symbolic gifts, after which General Chanegriha signed the Ministry of Defense’s guestbook and posed for an official commemorative photo, the MDN statement added.
