Algerian Olympic champion, Imane Khelif, announced her future goals and ambitions in the world of boxing during a press conference held yesterday at the headquarters of the Algerian Olympic Committee (COA). Khelif shared her plans to soon step into the professional boxing arena, revealing, “I plan to transition to the professional level soon, as I have received numerous offers from professional boxing organizations.”
Khelif further explained, “For now, I haven’t decided where I will begin my professional career, but it will happen soon.” Her decision marks a pivotal moment in her career as she moves towards the international professional scene.
The champion also emphasized the significance of being an Olympic medalist in the professional boxing world. “An Olympic champion holds great importance in the professional world. We, as Algerians, want to see how we measure up in professional boxing. I also aim to develop boxing in Algeria and to establish specialized academies for the sport,” Khelif added. It’s worth recalling that Imane Khelif won the gold medal in boxing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
