Algerian Minister of Housing Meets with Vice-President of the AU Commission

Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, welcomed Selma Malika Haddadi, Vice-President of the African Union Commission, on Thursday in Algiers. They engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between their respective entities in the fields of habitat and urban planning, as stated by the ministry.

The meeting, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters during the 44th General Assembly of the Shelter Afrique Development Bank (ShafDB), underscored Algeria’s considerable potential in the production of construction materials, along with its extensive experience in implementing housing projects, which it is eager to share with other African nations, according to the statement.

During this occasion, both parties stressed the significance of promoting the commercialization of Algerian construction materials across the continent, highlighting their quality and Algeria’s capacity to meet the growing demand in African markets.

It is noteworthy that participants in the 44th General Assembly of the ShafDB, held from July 15 to 17 in Algiers, discussed strategies for supporting affordable housing and fostering sustainable urban development throughout Africa.
