Rebiga participated in the Global Disability Summit 2025, held in Berlin on April 2 and 3 at the request of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He outlined “Algeria’s commitments” concerning care for individuals with special needs, as reported by the same source.
In this context, the minister highlighted “the significant advancements” achieved by Algeria under President Tebboune’s leadership in building “an inclusive society” that guarantees the rights of individuals with special needs and ensures their full participation in societal activities, contributing to the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Among Algeria’s commitments to support this group, Rebiga mentioned “the development of a national strategy on disability by the Ministry of National Solidarity, in collaboration with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, which is targeted for completion by 2027.”
He also noted “the provision of specialized staff to educational institutions dedicated to individuals with special needs, overseen by the Ministry of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Affairs. Additionally, there will be enhancements to vocational training systems aimed at facilitating the socio-professional integration of individuals with special needs. This includes the introduction of diverse new specialties within the national vocational training network, focusing on skills that are in demand in the labor market.”
During this edition of the Global Disability Summit, co-chaired by Germany, Jordan, and the International Disability Alliance (IDA), Algeria presented its commitments alongside those of the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Australia, UNICEF, and other organizations, as noted in the statement.
