Algerian Government Pushes Ahead with Investment Reforms, Lithium Industry

ALGIERS- Algerian Prime Minister, Nadir Larbaoui, chaired on Wednesday a meeting of the Government to examine files related to the economic land, development of lithium industry, wastewater treatment and professional baccalaureate, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release.
“The Prime Minister, Nadir Larbaoui, chaired, on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, a government meeting devoted to monitoring the implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic concerning the total activation of the economic land system intended for the execution of investment projects, particularly regarding the single window, with a view to facilitating the act of investment.
The measures taken by the three specialized land agencies were examined, for the purpose of making industrial, tourist and urban land available to the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, with the establishment of an appropriate framework to remove obstacles hindering the development of industrial and tourist zones.
The Government also received a briefing on the development of the lithium industry in Algeria, in accordance with the strategic vision of the President of the Republic, with the examination of a roadmap aimed at exploiting the national mining potential, as well as establishing a network to localize value-added processes in developing this key resource for global energy transition.
The Government examined the progress of the program for the development and rehabilitation of wastewater treatment plants, which aims to protect the environment against pollution, preserve citizens’ health, as well as increase the volume of treated water for reuse in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
The Government also received a presentation on the vocational baccalaureate project, which forms part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance and promote vocational education. This initiative aims to support the national economy’s growth by training and providing a qualified workforce capable of meeting labor market demands.
Lastly, the Government reviewed the progress of several major healthcare and sports infrastructure projects, emphasizing the importance of meeting established deadlines. The Government urged relevant sectors to ensure these facilities become operational and are properly equipped with necessary resources immediately upon completion.”
