Algerian FM Holds Talks with UN Secretary-General

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held talks on Saturday in New York with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, as part of his participation in the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the growing challenges facing the United Nations and to exchange views on prospects for strengthening the multilateral international system in a way that serves the causes of peace and development around the world, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The two sides also discussed current international and regional situations, foremost among them the latest developments in the Palestinian cause, the issue of decolonization in Western Sahara, as well as developments in the Sahel-Sahara region, according to the statement.
