Algeria, UNDP Sign Declaration to Accelerate National Digital Transformation

Accelerating the implementation of the national digital transformation strategy was the key topic discussed during the meeting that took place on Monday, in Algiers, between the High Commissioner for Digitalization in Algeria, with the rank of minister, Meriem Benmouloud, and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Algeria, Natasha van Rijn, according to a statement from the High Commission, following the Minister’s reception of the UN official.

According to the statement, the meeting culminated in “the signing of a declaration of intent between both parties in the field of digital transformation in Algeria, especially regarding the acceleration of the national digital transformation strategy’s implementation.” In cooperation with all ministerial sectors and public institutions, the High Commission for Digitalization is developing Algeria’s national roadmap for implementing the national digital transformation strategy over the 2025-2026 short-term period as phase one.

“Over 500 projects have been identified for delivery during this window,” according to an earlier announcement, and “three-quarters of these projects target improved public services, backed by monitoring and performance indicators.” The High Commission has started laying the groundwork for achieving digital transformation, beginning with developing the national digital transformation strategy under the vision “Digital Algeria 2030,” which “has been approved as the country’s first reference framework to organize, structure and guide the digital transformation process,” built around “five strategic pillars: basic infrastructure, human resources and training, research and development, digital governance, digital economy and digital society.”
